THIRTY ONE

We are down to our final thirty-one days in the flat we have called home for the last five or so years. They say parting is such sweet sorrow. But then again, I can't help but have my feelings of excitement eclipse the spells of sadness and separation anxiety. After all, it will be a new beginning in a new home for our family. And while every nook and crany of our humble abode carries with it a significant milestone or memory--our first meal as a married couple; our first cooking escapade; our first Yuletide as parents; our son's first steps, first fall, first smile, first word uttered and eventually, spelled; our parties and swimming get togethers; and so much more, we trust that our future home will bring many more special memories worth sharing and cherishing.

So what have we been doing in homefront in relation to the big move? Nada. Apart from classifying AND reclassifying some of the clothes in our closets, we have not really made any significant progress as regards to our house transfer.

Methinks that I would have to at least on the logistics of our new home--electricity and water connection, association membership fees, village vehicle stickers and identification cards for our "angels." And of course, how could I forget a phone connection (I hear the Qwest phone service rocks) and internet and cable subscriptions, similar to Qwest and its Qwest high speed Internet, to keep my sanity intact. Sniff, buh-bye neigborhood malls!

It has been a good five years for us--yes bittersweet, but memorable and meaningful nonetheless. And while we have not been really vocal about it, I know and firmly believe that this new chapter promises more milestones and hopefully, even better and more meaningful memories.
