This Saturday, my husband and I shall celebrate our 9th Valentine's Day together. As in previous years, we will be spending it at Bistro 110, the restaurant where we first met on the fateful day of December 12, 1999. That date, was to be our appointed wedding date, four years later. And interestingly, we live right across Bistro 110 now. :)
To my mind, every Valentine's Day celebration, while held in the same venue, had its own special meaning. One was the first spent as husband and wife, and was actually the day we realized we were pregnant! The other was the first time we spent as parents. One Valentine's Day was sad as it was marked by a senseless bus bombing that killed innocent people in Edsa. And the list of anecdotes goes on.
The most memorable however, would have to be that one time when we were still dating, and Haligi was residing in the province. He told me that he would just send me flowers and chocolates through his best friend because it was impossible for him to go to Manila. I got the surprise of my life when what actually greeted me at my office lobby was him, in the flesh, bearing a huge bouquet of roses. Do note however, that it was to be the first and last time he would give me one. Hahaha!
Our interesting dramedy is by and large due to the perseverance of dear friend F, my college batchmate, who was Haligi's classmate in law school. The renewal of my ties with F was also part of an amusing series of events. Suffice it to say that our story was testament that everything happens for a reason and that indeed, there are no accidents!
I'd love to touch base with F again, who is now based in the United States and currently reviewing for the US bar. She is setting her sights on become either an LA-based or Massachusetts Oui lawyer, where most of her relatives reside. F feels strongly against drunk driving as she became prey to a senseless accident many years ago.
Thank you dear F, for being an important chapter in our love story. We miss you and we hope to see you soon. Inom tayo! Hehehe!

Sweet love story you got there:)
Btw, regarding your friend F's conviction against drunk driving, I am with her. A brother of a good friend was a victim of one and their family took it very hard and the stupid driver? He went scot free after spending a few months in jail:( when he should've spent years more.
My husband and I are spending our 9th V Day as well :)
I hear you Marites. One officemate lost his bf when a drunk driver plowed through him as he was standing in the sidewalk. Senseless!
Ever the fighter, my friend vows to put those drunken drivers in their proper place.
Apir, Eper. Happy VD! Cheers!
Wow ang sweet naman pala nyo, kala ko sa movies lang yun,na you go to the same place each year:) It's really interesting reading true love stories. Here's wishing you more beautiful Valentine years together!!
