People say nobody gets it right the first time and the film For The First Time is testament to that.Quite a let down considering all the hype and hoopla that the movie boasts of beautiful things--beautiful landscapes, beautiful homes, beautiful people with beautiful showbiz lineage.
But it all ends there.
What follows is an ill-told story with a formula plot as thin as ice, made up of stereotypical characters played by miscast robots..err..actors, complemented by amateurish-bordering-on-overacting portrayals.
You be the judge.
Real estate exec, Sophia “Pia” Sandoval (Concepcion), is under-appreciated by her demanding and emotionally-distant father and boss, Santi (Phillip Salvador). Pia's Kuya (TJ Trinidad) advises her to get away from it all. So Pia packs her bags, and with her KSP nanny (Candy Pangilinan) in tow, she heads off to Santorini, that picturesque Greek island in the southern Aegean Sea. Lo and behold, she crosses paths (and wits) with Seth Villaraza (Richard Gutierrez), the former flame and heartbreaker of many of her closest friends. As (contrived) cinematic fate would have it, love blooms under the Aegean skies. So do the starcrossed lovers stand a chance in this melodramatic plot full of predictable twists and turns? Syempre!!! With cliche one-liners pa. Kalowka.
Need I say more? Ang perfect ko noh? Mwahaha.
Sorry to rain on the parade of KC fans, but maybe, her rise to MEGASTARLETdom has finally hit a snag. It probably is a case of too much too soon.
Matagal-tagal pa bago maulit to. Nakakadala.
